Photography is my passion. It excites me and grounds me. It takes me out of myself and challenges me to be a better artist.
My relationship with photography resembles that of an old friend. I remember when we were introduced…in highschool my father let me borrow his camera and we were inseparable. I took photography 101 for 3 semesters (I think you were only supposed to take it one semester!) I went to Appalachian State University, spent many late nights in the darkroom and had the opportunity to study in Ireland for a semester. It was there that I became enthralled with street photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Robert Frank. Their images were more then just snapshots of street life, but a window into that time and space. Street Photography is a type of documentary photography that attempts to capture a story in one frame. It is also about spontaneity, perception, and transferring the energy of the moment into the image.
My photography repertoire has expanded since then but I still hold this foundation in my work.
Gene (my husband), Porter (our dog) and I have been living in Wyoming (near Teton National Park) for the past few years and recently moved back to Atlanta. We love to play in the mountains, rock climb, ski, and bike!
